Airsonett received the first order to Holland from the University Medical Centre (UMC) in Utrecht
The University Medical Centre Utrecht is the largest public healthcare institution in the Netherlands, consisting of: AZU (Academic Hospital Utrecht),
WKZ (Wilhelmina Children’s Hospital), CMH (Central Military Hospital) and MFU (Medical Faculty Utrecht). With more than 10,000 employees, it is constantly building on the provision of good healthcare services, based on the right people and knowledge. Healthcare cannot improve without new knowledge about disease and well-being and patients will not receive better healthcare without people who can generate, apply and share this knowledge.
UMC Utrecht’s core activities are therefore to:
- provide state-of-the-art healthcare that requires special knowledge and expertise
- carry out cutting-edge scientific research
- offer excellent healthcare programmes and training to students, doctors, researchers and other healthcare providers

UMC Utrech has chosen to equip their new Hybrid Operating Room department with Airsonetts ventilation system Opragon. The installation consists, in total of, three Hybrid Operating Rooms. The first will be equipped with Opragon 28, the same kind of installation and size as Airsonett installed in the Hybrid Operating Room at the University Hospital in Lund, Sweden. The other two Hybrid Operating Rooms will be equipped with Opragon 20 and the surgical preparation room at the department will be equipped with two Opragon 6. The total installation also includes Airsonetts air showers and air curtains within the whole department. In the hybrid operating rooms Airsonetts Opragonsystem will be integrated with advanced ceiling mounted x-ray equipment from both Siemens and Philips.
Before UMC Utrecht decided to choose Airsonett and Opragon the project leader René Kraaijeveld, together with a project group visited the Airsonett laboratory in Ängelholm, performed measurement at Hybrid Operating Room at the Heart Center in Varde and visited the Hybrid Operating room at the University Hospital in Lund.
